Scarlet River Valley

from Love and Hope in the War Times by This Holy House

/

lyrics

There's a paradox written in this valley,
There's a bed where a river used to flow,
But a dam has been constructed,
And the water's stifled under,
So no supplies can get to the people
In the heart of the valley,

This valley has been purchased by the father,
He said give my purchased heart supplies of life
So it can blossom,
But somewhere out along the line,
The body of the heart severed the tie and now
Supplies of life are decaying all over the valley,

The scarlet river valley,
Where blood was spilled in war,
For broken-hearted people the spirit was the cure,
The scarlet river valley,
My heart resides in thee,
But waters have been dammed off by a silent enemy,

The heart must have blood to survive,
The people of the valley must have their supplies,
So we ride our boats out into the night,
Take that damn thing down rock and mud,
Remind the body of its need for blood.
