Love and War 03:43
I've only just begun to see the truth, You locked your heart away with no living proof, 'Cause everyone is hurting, including you, So why bother with love? Forget all of the battles of your youth, 'Cause growing up is a crime of passion, it's true, But to really grow you've gotta love, No matter who hates you because... The consequence of love and hate is war, But if there's a fight to fight I'll fight for sure, I'll fight because your heart is more important to me than the sword, Let me show you what this life is for, To always love and hold to hope and more, And let it out so hearts can grow up free and be uplifted!

There's a paradox written in this valley, There's a bed where a river used to flow, But a dam has been constructed, And the water's stifled under, So no supplies can get to the people In the heart of the valley, This valley has been purchased by the father, He said give my purchased heart supplies of life So it can blossom, But somewhere out along the line, The body of the heart severed the tie and now Supplies of life are decaying all over the valley, The scarlet river valley, Where blood was spilled in war, For broken-hearted people the spirit was the cure, The scarlet river valley, My heart resides in thee, But waters have been dammed off by a silent enemy, The heart must have blood to survive, The people of the valley must have their supplies, So we ride our boats out into the night, Take that damn thing down rock and mud, Remind the body of its need for blood.

There's a crack in the system, Something causin' a schism, I'm sick of losin' my wisdom, Television media masochism, I'm gonna become a confederate, Your pawns will not be my president, Let's put a crack in the system, I'm gonna break this thing wide open now, We've convinced ourselves that love is dead, And nothing's gonna matter but us in the end, And you wanna sit upon your white house throne a man you're gonna call your god who can never ever save your souls, I'm gonna become a confederate, Your pawns will not be my president, Three pieces for the devil's chess game, Don't care about nothin' but green money trees anyway, I'm gonna become a confederate, Your pawns will not be my president, Let's put a crack in the system!

I long to see your heart restored, Your faith and joy renewed, Love sick no more, I know that they tore you up and hung you out to dry, So until you're smiling again, Come on sister and brother, I'm gonna play for you until the light is born, I'm gonna sing to you until my lungs are torn, I'm gonna stay with you until the morning light, I'm gonna pray with you until you've, Until you've won the fight, Everybody's got a laundry list of regrets for things they have done, But you're not at fault here, No, You're the only one who gave a damn, Who stood up for a cause, You lived the truth without a pause, I know they tore you up, I know that it hurts like hell, So until you're smiling again Until you're smiling again, I'm gonna play for you until the light is born, I'm gonna sing to you until my lungs are torn, I'm gonna stay with you until the morning light, I'm gonna pray with you until you've, Until you've won the fight

I won't, I won't deny your power again, I will awaken to the coldest morning of winter, And I will follow you, I will follow you, I don't care if I die, I don't care if I die, You will take me home if I follow you to the end Through forest white with winter snow, I'm traveling up the mountain, Upwards, the way that I must go, And I will follow you, I will follow you, I don't care if I die, I don't care if I die, You will take me home if I follow you to the end You will take me home, Take me home, To the mountain, To the mountain

Tonight I'm at war, I've got a fight inside of me, And I am on the losing team, Tonight I'm at war, I've got a craving inside of me, Somewhere desire has replaced strong guns with flimsy swords, So my men are being shot down as I stab away in the dark, My heart is dead in the water, The leaves shout my name to the enemy, My blood is black upon trodden trail, As morning comes, Light shines on my defeat, My heart is broken anew 'cause blood has been spilled for my soul, And what remains? I've got no reinforcements now, I hear the shouts, Those lusting thugs think they have won, But I'm still alive and I ask, "Why?" "How could you let me go on now? With all this war in me I'm bound to go down sooner or later, sooner or later." Oh, Why has my spirit gone to sleep? Where's the fight that used to be in me? Oh, I'm so tired of living in defeat, I'm so tired of living in defeat, I'm so tired, Tonight I'm at war, My give-up strategy is all I seem to have left, And blood stained flag has a spot of white still in the center, This war has always been about me, And I realize that my defeat is only if I let it be, And maybe I have been surrendering to the wrong thing, And I know now that guns and swords won't win this war, Fire and steel won't win this war, Fire and steel won't win this war, Oh, I'm so tired of living in defeat, And you are the only fight inside of me, Oh, Please give me the strength to stand up and flee, 'Cause only you can win this war, Only you can win this war, Only you can win this war, Only you can win this war
8.
I've been asleep too long, Wake me up, I'm suffering from a broken heart, Please sew it up, Darlin' you're the reason why I survived the war, Swords ran into my side, I've gotta leave those scars behind, I've gotta leave those scars behind, So take my hand in yours and lift me up, Take me where you are and heal me with your love, Fear was all I had, Will I ever see you again? They told me I had already died, I just didn't know it yet, But there were glimmers inside, Hope was building up, You came and brought me back to life when I had almost given up, When I had almost given up, So take my hand in yours and lift me up, Take me where you are, Darlin' heal me with your love, Somehow I always knew that you would break through, Somehow I always knew that you would break through
9.
We see with guilt fed eyes, That makes our faith a lie, I know there's blood on your hands, But you're forgiven, If you can't remember that then love can't be real, How can we be love if we don't know how to love and How can we be love if we don't see that love is for everyone? Why do we judge and despise? And scratch only the surface of a life, We're all falling apart from the inside, We're all a broken home, Stolen from our lover, We all long to be one, We all long to be one, We all long to be one, But how can we be love if we don't know how to love and How can we be love if we don't see that love is for everyone?

The movie nights the supplience fights and and all the things that I used to enjoy, But honestly I think that I am on the brink, I'm on the edge I'm rendering myself lifeless and full of regret, This house is a joke and I am basically broke, I've gotta get out of here before my head explodes, This isn't right, The colors turning grey, My face becoming pale, My hopeless lifeless state, Devoid of all sense, What happened? Why am I already dead? I'm not even out of class yet! I'm not even out of class yet! I need some rescuing! I need some rescuing! Give me some breath darlin', Give me some breath darlin', Where are you? Where are you? Give me some breath, I need some rescuing!!!

Hold On to Me (free) 05:36
Whatever you're counting on, I will do my best to give ten-fold! Rely on me my darlin', Hold on to me as we quietly grow old! And promise to be tender all the years until we die, Tender to my hands, 'Cause they hold your heart for the rest of your life! Hold on, Hold on to me! When I'm leaving myself behind, When I seem a little less likely to survive, I need you most my darlin', Hold on to me when I'm terrified! I promise to be tender, Even when I feel like dying, Tender to your hands, 'Cause they hold my heart for the rest of my life! Hold on, Hold on to me!

In Death 12:07
I see you standing on the air, A silent ghost, no one there, I reckon now, you're reckoning, A wreck, my heart, for your suffering, A silent witness in the night, You went out without a fight, For causes unknown, our eyes have missed, You were betrayed with a kiss, Your death was like a fire, You saved me from all the liars, Your death was like a fire, You saved me from all the liars, With your last breath the veil was torn, A debt was paid forevermore, And I could hear the children call, "And unto you, a ghost is born" Your death was like a fire, You saved me from all the liars, Your death was like a fire, You saved me from all the liars

about

The culmination of over a year & a half of up's & down's has finally come to a realization of hard work & ambition in our very first professionally recorded studio album, Love and Hope in the War Times.

We've set a minimum price of $10, but you can pay whatever you want (hey, we're starving musicians stuck in the middle of Arkansas, yall!--er, yo!)!

**
This Holy House consisting of singer-songwriter and guitarist Elliott S. Cotten, David Velek on bass & keys, and James Velek on drums & percussion, are quickly becoming one of the most exciting bands in the indie-rock scene in central Arkansas. Raised in Greenbrier, Arkansas, the Velek brothers and Elliott S. Cotten spent years separately honing their musical skills and have finally arrived on the same page.

This Holy House is the result.

With their small-town heart and charm, David, James, and Elliott have decided to let their folk roots guide them, and to make a mark of their own in the world of independent music

In December 2011, guitarist Jordan Ahne was added as a permanent member of This Holy House.
